Transfer Station
The Jackson Transfer Station is located in the municipal complex behind the Fire Station, and is available to all Jackson residents.
The Transfer Station is open Sundays, 8 AM - 4 PM. The Swap Shop is closed until further notice.
Metal dumpster:
1. All items must be put in dumpster and pushed back as far as possible. DO NOT LEAVE ITEMS ON GROUND OUTSIDE DUMPSTER.
2. Refrigerators—freon-free and doors off.
3. NO dumping when transfer station not open.
4. NO TV’s, microwaves, computers, or other electronics. (Those can be taken to Unity Area recycling-free of charge.)
Please follow the rules or the dumpster may again be removed. And remember: refrigerators, with their freon intact, can be recycled at the Unity Area Recycling Center in Thorndike. Please don't vent refrigerant into the atmosphere. It’s a really bad air pollutant.
Recycling can be taken to the Unity Area Regional Recycling Center (UARRC) at 95 Leonard Road, Thorndike ME 04986. It is open Wednesday to Friday 9am-4pm, and Saturdays 8am-1pm. Visit their website or Facebook page for more information.
The Transfer Station is open every Sunday.
