Transfer Station

The Jackson Transfer Station is located in the municipal complex behind the Fire Station, and is available to all Jackson residents.

Maintain distances. Be safe.

The Transfer Station is open Daylight Savings Hours: Sundays, 8 AM - 5 PM

The Swap Shop is closed until further notice.

Recycling can be taken to the Unity Area Regional Recycling Center (UARRC) at 95 Leonard Road, Thorndike ME 04986. It is open Wednesday to Friday 9am-4pm, and Saturdays 8am-1pm. Visit their website or Facebook page for more information.

The Transfer Station is open every Sunday. Hours change when the clocks change.
  8AM to 5PM during daylight savings
  8AM to 4PM during standard time

ALL refrigerators must have doors removed before leaving at Transfer Station. You can also bring refrigerators and freezers to recycle at UAARC--there is no cost and no need to remove doors.

Brown Goods are only accepted twice a year, normally in May and October. Dates will be announced. Metal is accepted year round in the big dumpster. METAL ONLY, please! A limited number of tires are accepted in the dumpsters each week, during normal Transfer Station hoursplease read tire policy below.

No hazardous waste will be accepted at the Transfer Station. Universal Hazardous Waste can be taken to UARRC during their regular hours. This list includes all batteries, ink and toner cartridges, TVs and monitors, computers, printers, and other electronic equipment, game consoles, digital picture frames, and anything containing mercury (fluorescent bulbs, thermometers, thermostats, automotive switches, and some antiques.) Pamphlets are available in the Town Office and at the Transfer Station.
